The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has announced the commencement of admission into its School of Foundation Studies (formerly known as Foundation Programmes) for the 2025/2026 academic session. The sale of application forms will begin on Monday, May 26, 2025, and conclude on Friday, August 15, 2025.

The programme offers an intensive one-year academic curriculum in line with the Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) syllabus. It is designed to prepare students for admission into the 200 level of degree programmes in UNILAG and other JUPEB-affiliated universities in Nigeria and abroad.

Entrance Examination Details

  • Date: Saturday, August 30, 2025

  • Venue: Distance Learning Institute (DLI), University of Lagos

  • Mode: Computer-Based Test (CBT)

  • Format: Multiple-choice questions covering:

    • English Language (20 questions)

    • Mathematics (20 questions)

    • Three other relevant subjects based on chosen subject combination (15 questions each)

  • Duration: 45 minutes

  • Candidates opting for Mathematics as one of their subject combinations are required to take Further Mathematics in the entrance exam.

Admission Guidelines

Admission into undergraduate programmes via the Foundation Studies route is competitive and subject to approved departmental quotas. While performance in the JUPEB examination is a key factor, it does not guarantee placement into a candidate’s preferred programme. The University reserves the right to conduct additional assessments where the number of qualifying candidates exceeds available slots.
