LAGOS STATE UNIVERSITY (LASU) RELEASES PRE-DEGREE PROGRAMMES ADMISSION FORM FOR THE 2025/2026 ACADEMIC SESSION

Ifeoluwa Olaore

Lagos State University (LASU) has announced that applications are now open for its 2025/2026 Pre-Degree Studies (PDS) Programme, which will run from October 2025 to September 2026 at the university’s Epe Campus.

The one-year intensive and fully residential programme is targeted at candidates with deficiencies in their O’Level results, providing an opportunity to re-sit required subjects and prepare for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Successful students stand a better chance of admission into LASU’s 100 Level degree programmes through a dedicated PDS quota.

Subjects to be Offered in the Programme
The programme covers 11 subjects:

  • Mathematics
  • English Language
  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Biology
  • Government
  • Economics
  • Literature in English
  • Christian Religious Studies (CRS)
  • Islamic Religious Studies (IRS)
  • Accounting

Admission Requirements
Applicants must have at least three credit passes in relevant subjects (listed above) from WAEC, NECO, or GCE, in not more than two sittings. Candidates meeting the requirements will be invited for a written qualifying examination.

Transitioning to 100 Level
To progress into 100 Level, candidates must:

  • Sit for the UTME and meet LASU’s minimum cut-off mark.
  • Pass the university’s screening exercise.
  • Resolve any O’Level deficiencies through WAEC and/or NECO.

Successful candidates can be admitted into various faculties, including Engineering, Science, Law, Management Sciences, Education, Social Sciences, Agriculture, Transport, Mass Communication, Nursing, Dentistry, and the College of Medicine.

Strong Performance Record
LASU revealed that 89% of its current PDS students scored 200 and above in the 2025 UTME, with some exceeding 300 marks, crediting the achievement to rigorous teaching and Computer-Based Test (CBT) practice sessions.

Application Procedure
Interested candidates should visit www.lasu.edu.ng to make a ₦15,000 payment via the MAKE PAYMENT option, then complete registration through the LASU PDS portal: http://studentservices.lasu.edu.ng/pds_application/newstudents/.

Deadline
Applications close six weeks from the date of publication. Dates for the qualifying exam and interview will be announced later.

The university emphasised that the programme is residential and warned applicants against making payments to individuals or unofficial channels.
