The Federal Government has approved the appointment of Professor Mathew Adamu, FCVSN, KSM, as the new Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University. In a statement issued by the Acting Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mrs. Roseline O. He succeeds Professor Patricia Manko Lar, who was appointed in February 2025 to serve in an acting capacity for six months. During her tenure, Professor Lar was commended for providing purposeful leadership, maintaining academic and administrative stability, and, in collaboration with relevant University bodies, initiating the process for appointing a substantive Vice-Chancellor.

According to Mrs. Adakayi, Professor Adamu’s mandate includes working closely with the Governing Council, chaired by Senator Dr. Olanrewaju Tejuoso, to complete the selection process for a substantive Vice-Chancellor in accordance with statutory provisions and established guidelines.

The University community expressed its profound appreciation to Professor Lar for her dedicated service, visionary leadership, and unwavering commitment to excellence and institutional development.

The Acting Registrar extended best wishes to Professor Adamu for a successful tenure as he leads the institution through this transitional period.
