SANWO OLU APPOINTS OBA OGUNSANWO AS 6TH CHANCELLOR OF LASU

DEESWIFT CONSULTS reports that the Governor of Lagos State and Visitor to Lagos State University, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo Olu, has appointed His Royal Majesty, Oba Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo, the Alara of Ilara, as the 6th Chancellor of the University.

The appointment follows the completion of the tenure of Professor Gbolahan Elias, SAN, who served as the 5th Chancellor of the institution.

The Lagos State Government and the University community commended Professor Elias for his service and contributions to the growth and reputation of the University during his tenure.

The appointment was made in line with the provisions of the Lagos State University Law 2004 as amended, which empowers the Visitor to appoint the Chancellor of the University.

Oba Ogunsanwo will serve a single term of five years effective from Friday, 13th February 2026. The term is renewable once.

The Pro Chancellor and Vice Chancellor congratulated the new Chancellor and expressed confidence in his leadership toward advancing the vision and mission of Lagos State University.
