LASU directorate of skills development and entrepreneurship successfully holds 2-day exhibition fair for the 2022/2023 academic session
The Directorate of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship (DSDE) has successfully held a 2-day Exhibition Fair for students of the Ikeja and Ojo campuses of the university on Wednesday, 10th and Thursday, 11th January 2024. The Fair, which, according to the Acting Director, DSDE, Dr. Habeeb Sanni, was a measure for the directorate to assess and grade the 300 level students who have undertaken ENT 302 course, was held at the open space opposite Buba Marwa Auditorium, main campus, Ojo, Lagos.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji Bello, mni, NPOM, in her address, welcomed everyone to the Exhibition, which was the 7th in the series.
The Professor of Physiology, said, "In today’s reality, it is not enough to go through higher institution of learning then wait to be employed; it is important that you recognise and possess skills that can be transformed into profitable businesses to guarantee you making a living for yourself, creating job opportunities for others and adding value to the society." She urged the students to make the skills they have learnt a permanent part of their lives.
In his welcome address, the Acting Director, Dr. Sanni, reiterated that "In line with the directorate’s mandate to train world-class students, over thirty six (36) entrepreneurship vocational skills have been highlighted and these includes bead making, organic soap and cream production, leather works, soap and toiletries, paint making, electrical installation, welding and fabrication, cake making, event planning, animal husbandry, hair making, interior decoration, crop farming, computer technology, fashion designing, solar energy construction and installation, yoghurt production, writing & publishing, website development, water treatment, tourism & entertainment."
The 2-day Exhibition Fair was well attended by members of the University Management, staff, assessors, facilitators, and students of the university.
