The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has issued a stern warning to the public about a fraudulent website falsely claiming to be the official portal for student loan applications. The fake portal, which surfaced recently, is linked to a scam message that alleges President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has authorized the reopening of the NELFUND Student Loan portal.
According to a statement released by NELFUND’s Director of Strategic Communications, Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, the fraudulent website, accessible via the link https://nelfund-student-loan-2025.po-rt-al.com/NELFUND/, is not affiliated with the organization in any way. She emphasized that the information circulating is false and misleading.
Mrs. Oluwatuyi reiterated that the only official platform for the NELFUND student loan application is the organization’s legitimate website: https://nelf.gov.ng.
The statement urged students, parents, and guardians to exercise caution and avoid clicking on suspicious links or submitting personal and financial information on unverified sites. NELFUND reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, safety, and fairness in its loan disbursement process.
Members of the public who come across suspicious messages or websites are encouraged to report them directly to NELFUND via email at info@nelf.gov.ng. The fund’s verified social media handles on X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn also provide reliable sources of information.
As Nigeria continues efforts to increase access to higher education through affordable student loans, NELFUND remains vigilant in protecting applicants from online fraud.
