LASUED Organizes 3-Day Workshop on Entrepreneurship and Skill Development
The Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) organized a three-day workshop for academic staff, anchored by the Directorate of Entrepreneurship and Skill Development (DESD) to enhance service delivery of the Entrepreneurship and Community Learning (ECL) curriculum.
The workshop, themed “Building Transformational Educators for Enterprise and Leadership Training” (LASUED ECL 203–404), 2nd Batch Train-the-Trainer programme, held from Monday 15th to Wednesday 17th December, 2025, at the board room of the College of Management Sciences Education (COMSED).
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji-Okuneye, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Daodu M.A. commended the remarkable journey of entrepreneurship education at LASUED. He noted that entrepreneurship is one of the foundational pillars of the university and must be sustained.
“Entrepreneurship is part of the origin of this university, and it must not be allowed to die. That is why we are training lecturers,” he said.
He added that entrepreneurship opportunities exist in every course of study, stressing that the university does not want graduates who merely write letters of employment but those who can stand on their own. According to him, lecturers must, therefore, possess adequate entrepreneurial knowledge to effectively impact students.
Speaking at the event, the Director of Entrepreneurship and Skill Development, Prof. Bolanle O. Olaleye emphasized that all students must graduate with at least one practical skill to enable them to be independent in the future. She explained that the workshop provided an important platform for collaboration, peer learning, and the sharing of experiences among participants.
Prof. Olaleye noted that the programme aims to ensure students are trained not only as job seekers but also as employers of labour. She encouraged lecturers to contribute meaningfully to the development of students, the institution, and the wider society.
The workshop featured facilitators who delivered sessions on various entrepreneurship topics, highlighting that entrepreneurs identify problems, seize opportunities, and propose simple, practical solutions.
