The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the introduction of a National Digital Pre-Registration App (NDPA) ahead of the 2027 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The new initiative is designed to simplify and improve the UTME registration process by allowing prospective candidates to complete important preparatory steps using their mobile devices before visiting an approved registration centre.
Through the platform, candidates are expected to have the opportunity to review and prepare key information, including their proposed courses and institutions, UTME subject combinations, eligibility requirements and personal details.
According to the reported plans, the initiative is intended to reduce errors and minimise the amount of time candidates spend at registration centres. Rather than completing every stage from scratch at a CBT centre, candidates will be able to prepare relevant information beforehand, making the centre primarily a point for verification and completion of the official registration process.
However, the introduction of the digital pre-registration platform does not mean that candidates will no longer need to visit approved JAMB registration centres.
Candidates will still be required to complete the official registration process at accredited centres and undergo the necessary verification procedures.
The development is part of the broader digital reforms being introduced under the leadership of the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina, with the aim of improving the efficiency, transparency and overall experience of the examination and admission process.
Prospective 2027 UTME candidates are advised to rely only on information released through JAMB's official channels and to be cautious of unofficial applications, websites or individuals requesting payment for access to the new platform.
As preparations for the 2027 UTME continue, candidates are encouraged to ensure that their personal information, NIN details, proposed course choices and subject combinations are accurate and properly verified.
