NSUK Senate Approves Nine New Postgraduate Programmes to Boost Academic Opportunities

The Senate of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), has approved nine new postgraduate programmes aimed at enhancing the institution’s academic capacity and meeting emerging societal needs. The approval was granted during the university’s 130th Regular Senate Meeting held on Thursday, June 26, 2025.

According to Barrister Ramatu Ahmed Liman, Head of Academic Affairs and Senior Deputy Registrar, most of the newly introduced programmes will be hosted by the Ibrahim Jibril Institute for the Built Technology, with a strong focus on sustainability and management in the built environment. The newly approved programmes include:

  • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Sustainable Built Environment
  • Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) in Sustainable Built Environment
  • Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Sustainable Built Environment
  • Master in Sustainable Built Environment
  • Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Sustainable Built Environment
  • Master in Project Management
  • Master's in construction management
  • Master in Facilities Management

In addition, the Senate approved:

  • Master's in leadership and strategic studies – to be domiciled at the Institute of Governance and Development Studies
  • Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) in Disaster Risk Management – to be domiciled at the Centre for Disaster Risk Management and Development Studies

This strategic expansion of NSUK’s postgraduate offerings reflects the university’s commitment to academic excellence and national development. It also aims to provide professionals with advanced training to address global challenges in areas such as sustainable development, strategic leadership, disaster risk reduction, and infrastructure management.
