Prof. Modupe Adeola Adelabu has been appointed Chairman of the Governing Board of NECO, while the current registrar, Professor Ibrahim Dantani Wushishi, has been retained. Adeola Adelabu is a retired Professor of Educational Administration from Obafemi Awolowo University and a former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State. She also served as Chairman of NBTE from 2018 to 2021.
For the chairmanship of NBTE, President Tinubu appointed Professor Babatunde Salako, a distinguished academic and former Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR), where he led significant institutional revitalisation and research advancements. The incumbent Executive Secretary of NBTE, Prof. Idris M. Bugaje, was reappointed for a second and final five-year term.
Engr. Dr. Bongfa Binfa has been appointed Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, N’yak-Shendam, succeeding Dr. Mukaila Zakari Ya’u. Dr. Binfa, who holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, previously served as Deputy Rector (Academic) at the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny.
President Tinubu also renewed the tenure of Prof. Chinwe Veronica Anunobi as Director/Chief Executive Officer of the National Library of Nigeria for a final five-year term. Since her appointment in 2021, Prof. Anunobi has driven numerous reforms, including the development of the National Repository of Nigeria and the National Virtual Library. She has also advanced the completion of the National Library Headquarters project in Abuja.
The President emphasized that these appointments aim to ensure continuity in ongoing reforms and strategic development within these critical educational and cultural institutions.
