LASU Announces New Heads of Departments, Acting HODs and Faculty Supervisors
The Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Distinguished Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, has approved a fresh round of academic leadership appointments across various departments and faculties of the university.
The appointments, which include substantive Heads of Departments, Acting Heads of Departments and Faculty Supervisors, take effect from August 2026 and cover several academic units within the institution.
Professor Victor Omoniyi Ajulor, from the Department of Public Administration in the Faculty of Management Sciences, has been appointed Head of the Department of Public Administration for a three-year tenure. His appointment commenced on August 15, 2026, and will run until August 14, 2029.
Similarly, Professor Babajide G. Abidogun of the Department of Educational Foundations and Counselling Psychology, Faculty of Education, has been appointed Head of the Department for a three-year period. His tenure also runs from August 15, 2026, to August 14, 2029.
In the Faculty of Science, Dr Eugene Oghenakpobor Onori of the Department of Physics has been appointed Acting Head of the Department of Physics. The appointment is for two years, effective from August 19, 2026, to August 18, 2028.
The university also appointed Dr Musiliu Dada Rufai as Acting Head of the Department of Educational Management, Faculty of Education. His two-year tenure commenced on August 15, 2026, and is expected to end on August 14, 2028.
Also receiving an Acting Head of Department appointment is Dr Sunday Olufemi Akintelu of the Department of Management Technology, Faculty of Management Sciences. His appointment is for two years, effective August 15, 2026, through August 14, 2028.
Faculty Supervisors Appointed
Meanwhile, two academics have been appointed Faculty Supervisors in the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, School of Part-Time Studies.
They are Dr Ladega Ganiu Okunnu of the Department of Public Relations and Advertising and Dr Monsurat Olasunmbo Aiyegusi of the Department of Broadcasting.
Their appointments will run for one year, beginning August 1, 2026, and ending July 31, 2027.
LASU Renews Acting HOD Appointment
The university has also renewed the appointment of Dr Bukola Olaide Alaba of the Department of Science and Technology Education, Faculty of Education, as Acting Head of Department.
The renewed appointment will run for another two years, taking effect from August 8, 2026, and ending August 7, 2028.
The Vice-Chancellor congratulated the appointees and wished them success as they take on their respective responsibilities across the university.
The new appointments are expected to contribute to the effective administration and academic coordination of the affected departments and faculties.
